The proposal
Longmuir Renewable Energy and Biodiversity Project
A renewable energy and biodiversity enhancement project on land approximately 4.5km north of the village of Stow and 7km from Lauder.
The initial proposals are for:
- Up to 10 turbines with a maximum tip height of 200m, with individual ratings of 7.2MW, resulting in a total capacity of 72MW
- Co-location of solar photovoltaics, of up to 50MW
- A battery energy storage system of up to 40MW, which would support the balancing and decarbonisation of the electricity system
- Specific land enhancements to increase biodiversity in the immediate area

The community council invited Galileo to their meeting on 9.03.26 to present the latest proposal and answer questions. Community councillors also attended the consultation event on 10.03.26 to ask further questions to inform their response to the consultation
