Road works/Road Closures

First notification about the resurfacing work through Lauder
The improvement works will take place throughout Lauder High Street, extending from south of Market Place to north of Lauder Town. Please see the attached location plan for details.
The works have been provisionally programmed to take place from Monday 12th October to Friday 30th October, for 15 nights between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00 each night. No works are currently planned to take place on Saturday or Sunday nights.
Unfortunately, due to the high volumes of traffic and alignment in this area of the A68 Bear has no option but to close this section of the A68 to ensure the safety of workforce and members of the travelling public. During construction hours, a signed diversion route will be in place. Traffic will be diverted between Carfraemill Roundabout and Earlston via the A68, A697 to Whiteburn, A6089 to Gordon and the A6015 to Earlston. This diversion will add 12 minutes and 7.9 miles to affected journeys. Please also refer to the attached diversion drawings for further details.
The extents of the road closure will be from Carfraemill Roundabout to the B6362 Thirlestane Jct. Access into Lauder will be maintained for local residents and emergency services. The construction will be phased across three separate zones to help limit disruption to both parking and access requirements. Please refer to the attached Consultation Letter and Construction Zones drawing for more detail. Vehicle access into a zone will be restricted during the working period, with only emergency services permitted through the working zone. Pedestrian access across the town will be maintained. Bear encourage access requests to be made in advance via email to SEConsultationroads@bearscotland.co.uk, to ensure minimal delays and wait times.
These essential resurfacing works require the use of heavy machinery and will involve noisy operations. The works have been planned to minimise construction noise as much as possible, including the use of noise reduction measures and the completion of the loudest works earlier in the night.
Local residents will receive a leaflet with the full project details in advance of the works commencing.
Bear understands that roadworks can be disruptive, and are committed to completing this work as efficiently and safely as possible. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated as they carry out these vital improvements.
If you have any questions or wish to arrange access requirements, please contact Calum Shearer at SEConsultationroads@bearscotland.co.uk
