LAUDERDALE COMMUNITY COUNCIL : Sub Groups
SUB GROUPS
Community Action Plan

Members: Update coming soon
This subgroup of LCC aims to finalise and progress our Community Action Plan.
The CAP comprises a prioritised list of projects and improvements people within Lauderdale and surrounding areas would like.
The CAP is currently in draft form with 5 main themes. It has been produced after extensive local consultation. We want to summarise the CAP in a leaflet and distribute it to every local household. We have been seeking funding for this and are awaiting the result of an application.

Community Funding Group

Members: Update coming soon
(Including potential Funding from Renewable Projects)
* This group looks at the potential community benefit from proposed renewable developments/projects e.g. sponsorship, use of local companies, material sourcing, production related community benefit etc.
The members of the Community Funding Group sit completely separately from the Energy and Renewable Planning Group and neither influence the other. In both however we try to reflect the views of the residents, and where appropriate, work with other community councils.
Planning Groups
* The Community Council is considered a statutory respondent for all applications e.g. all domestic and renewable energy developments. Planning applications are considered individually on their merits and suitability. Lauderdale Community Council have chosen to divide planning in to two Sub Groups ;
1 Domestic Planning
Members: Alistair Smith & Amanda Jordan
2 Energy development
Members: Jane Elliot, Jane Johnston and Susan Sutherland
This group was set up to review planning applications for renewable energy developments within Lauderdale and submit responses, which reflect the views of the majority of the community. In doing so, we seek to keep residents informed of developments as they arise and actively seek community feedback when compiling responses. We have carried out a successful survey on the Glenburnie Wind Farm proposal and have submitted a detailed response to the ECU on behalf of the community.
We proactively engage with developers, SBC and other community councils to keep abreast of a rapidly changing situation
We aim to share information and carry out surveys in a timely manner but often have to work to tight deadlines dictated by the developers.

The Lauder Public Hall
Members: Amanda Jordan, Anne Lillico, Susan Sutherland
This group was set up to evaluate options for the future of the public hall, in light of its potential closure by SBC, and to formulate an action plan for its future survival.
We organized a public meeting to update residents on the current situation and gather feedback from groups and individuals on whether there was an appetite to save the hall and ideas to help make it a viable facility. We submitted a detail report following the meeting to SBC to be considered at the SBC special meeting.
We are pleased that the hall has been given a reprieve until 2029 while options for a community asset transfer are explored.
We are now focused on taking this forward with Live Borders and are looking to set up a steering committee in the near future.

Communications

Members : Judi Gunn, Anne Lillico and Susan Sutherland
This group has been set up to review and improve on previous communication processes and discuss how we can ensure that Lauder Community Council communicates effectively with and on behalf of the whole community; ensuring that their views are listened to and acted upon.
We agreed that in the short term raising our profile in the community was a priority as well as ensuring we are accessible to the public to receive feedback and suggestions.
So far, we have focused on;
- Notice boards –sprucing up and location
- Suggestion box – this will be located in the Firebrick Bakery soon
- Posters with photos of the new LCC Members
- Article for the Lauderdale News –with photo
- The LCC members having a larger presence at local events such as the switching on of the Christmas tree lights.
- The LCC website and Facebook
- WEBSITE CHANGES / ADDITIONS
-
- Due to the increase in cost of the previous online host a new Website is in the process of being built. The Lauderdale Community Council section should be launched by the beginning of May 2026.
- There will be individual pages for each renewable energy project. These will be updated as and when we are notified.
- The Community Hub landing page/platform will be based more on:
- Local Shops, Hotels and Cafés
- A Local Groups page.
- A page encouraging local Community feedback ..
- and more
Any suggestions on how to improve communication can be put into our new suggestion box in the Firebrick bakery, emailed or via this form.
