Fishing Lauderdale
Trout and Grayling Fishing.
Trout and Grayling fishing is available in selected locations on the River Leader from 15th March until 5th October. Permits, which must be obtained prior to fishing, are available from the Spotty Dog and are currently £10 for adults and £5 for concessions for the whole period. Like the entire Tweed system (of which The Leader is a tributary) this is natural fishing for wild fish (i.e. unlike commercial fisheries it is not stocked with fish) and is by artificial fly only, and returning all fish is encouraged, but an occasional trout for the pan is acceptable. Best times are April, May and September subject to water and it fishes best after a flood. Small fish (which must be returned) are plentiful and larger fish are a welcome bonus. Parking is available at Boon and Whitslaid where the river is easily accessible. Please show your permits to any enforcement agencies. For further details refer to the information on the permit or to be shown the best spots contact Graeme on 07807594216 or email this link
