Borders Transport Corridor Survey
SBC are inviting local organisations, residents and businesses to share their views through the Borders Transport Corridor Survey, which is now open.
The survey is part of the early evidence-gathering work for the Borders Railway project between Tweedbank, Hawick and Carlisle. It will help build a better understanding of how people currently travel, what challenges they face, and where improved transport connections could make a difference for communities, businesses and local places.
At this stage, the survey is not asking people to choose a preferred transport option or route, or to comment on what may be built. Instead, it is about listening to local experiences and gathering views that can help inform the Growth Prospectus and Strategic Outline Business Case as this work develops.
Your response will help strengthen the evidence base and ensure that local priorities, opportunities and concerns are properly reflected in the next stage of work.
The survey can be accessed here: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx…
Any questions about the Borders Railway project can be sent to: bordersrailway@scotborders.gov.uksh Borders Council

5th September 2026
As the survey closes at the end of this month, I wanted to send a reminder and encourage you to help raise awareness within your local communities.
We are keen to hear from as many residents, businesses, and visitors as possible about the places where they live, work and spend time in the Scottish Borders. The feedback received will help inform the Evidence Report for LDP3 and provide an important evidence base for the preparation of the new Plan.
The survey can be accessed via Citizen Space: Tell Us About Your Place: Local Development Plan 3 Early Engagement Survey
Your support is greatly appreciated and helps ensure that a wide range of local views are captured as we begin preparing the new Local Development Plan.
The survey will remain open until 30 September 2026.
I have attached a poster which you may wish to display within your community if you are able.
We would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete the survey and, where appropriate, encourage members of your community to take part and have their say.
If you have any questions or would like further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you in advance for your time and support.
Kind regards,
Karen Ruthven

29th May 2026
Scottish Borders Council is at an early stage in preparing the next Local Development Plan, which will set out where development should and should not take place and help guide future planning decisions across the Borders.
As part of this early engagement stage, we are keen to hear directly from you and the communities you represent about your experience of local places. The survey invites feedback on the areas where you live, work and spend time, including what works well, what could be improved, and what you would like to see change in the future.
Your insight will play an important role in shaping the evidence base and informing the foundations of the new Local Development Plan, helping to ensure it reflects the needs and priorities of communities across the Scottish Borders.
You can access the survey using the following link: LDP3 – Early Engagement Survey
